2017 Spring and Summer Semester of V.E.D.A. Courses

These are week end courses offered between 7:30 AM and 1:15 PM. They begin on April 15 2017. More than 400 students have attended these courses to date:

Note: Courses are offered in English, free of tuition charges, for ages 18 and above. However, a nominal registration fee of $100 per course will be levied.
About the Guru:
Kumar Padmni, a resident of Bay Area and technology professional of 40+ years, is also a passionate teacher of vedhic heritage. He is an ardent vedhaantha student who has acquired the knowledge in subject matter over many years of study and practice. He has learned vedhamanthra from BrahmashriMarepalli Naga VenkataSastri. He has the unique ability to relate and adapt to student of all ages, backgrounds, and interest levels. He specializes in relating vedhaanthic principles with modern scientific concepts that include The Big Bang Theory, Neuroplasticity, and Consciousness Studies. He believes in the practice of vedhaantha ‘here and now’ to enjoy life and not later. This makes his vedhic heritage sessions compelling to even young minds (18 years and older).

Surya Namaskara Class:

The next session of 'Shri Surya Namaskara' commences on Sunday, February 5th 2017, 8:00 am - 9:00 am

About the course

The primary objective of the program is to attain the physical and mental equilibrium through disciplined breathing and iterations of various Aasanas. This program will help relieve physical and mental stress to achieve overall health. The program will constitute 6 individual sessions.Each session will be comprised of three phases.

(1) In the first phase some popular and helpful Sanskrit mantras, sutras and shlokas will be recited together such as: Yoga Shloka, Patanjali sutra, MahaMrutyunjaya Mantra, Aditya shloka. This will be a 5 minutes activity.

(2) After the shloka, there will be a set of yogic jogging exercises to free up the muscles and make mind and body ready for Surya Namaskar. This will be a 5 minute activity.

(3) After yogic jogging, 12 repetitions of Surya Namaskar will be performed. Each repetition is expected to take about 2 minutes is done with proper posture, rest and breathing. Total of 12 repetitions will take about 25-30 minutes.

(4) Then Shavaasanaa will be performed for 5 minutes to relax and meditate after the exercise.

Note: Courses are offered in English, free of tuition charges. However, there will be a nominal onetime registration fee of $60 (payable to V.E.D.A).

About session coordinator:

Nikhil Kulkarni, a resident of Bay Area and technology professional, works with Ernst&Young LLP as a 'Management Consultant'. His primary role is to help the C-Suite leaders of client organizations to lay out strategy for the large scale business and technology transformations. Typical engagement/project involves components of Program Management along with Organization and Change Management to make sure the organization is ready for the change.

Nikhil Kulkarni has been performing Surya Namaskar along with other forms of Indian physical exercises since child hood. In 2011, Nikhil developed a cadence for performing Surya Namaskar and kept on adding 6 repetitions every week. By June 2013, Nikhil was doing more than 456 repetitions a day (19 repetitions of set of 24 repetitions each). During this time, Nikhil observed tremendous improvement in vital ratios along with the overall energy levels. In this phase Nikhil observed that Surya Namaskar is more of a breathing and meditating exercise than physical one. It is an exercise that has the greatest potential to calm down the mind and bring a state of equilibrium with mind and body. Based on his experiences, Nikhil developed a curriculum to help achieve the equilibrium of body and mind. Nikhil believes that performing Surya Namaskar with friends and family is more helpful in attaining the state of compassion and equilibrium through synergy.


YOGA AASANA COURSE for BEGINNERS:

The next session commences on Saturday, April 15th 2017, 7:30am - 8:30am
